Probiotics and Their Bioproducts: A Promising Approach for Targeting Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus

چکیده
Antibiotic resistance is a serious global health problem that poses threat to the successful treatment of various bacterial infections, especially those caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE). Conventional MRSA VRE infections challenging often requires alternative or combination therapies may have limited efficacy, higher costs, and/or more adverse effects. Therefore, there an urgent need find new strategies combat antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Probiotics antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are two promising approaches shown potential benefits in diseases. live microorganisms confer host when administered adequate amounts. AMPs, usually produced with probiotic bacteria, short amino acid sequences broad-spectrum activity against fungi, viruses, parasites. Both probiotics AMPs can modulate immune system, inhibit growth adhesion pathogens, disrupt biofilms, enhance intestinal barrier function. In this paper, we review current knowledge on role targeting multi-drug-resistant focus VRE. addition, discuss future directions for clinical use probiotics.

During the last years, antimicrobial resistance has become one of the greatest challenges in clinical settings. Staphylococcus aureus and Enterococcus are important nosocomial pathogens worldwide. In different corners of the world, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) have been isolated from various sources including different foods of an...
متن کاملPrevalence of Vancomycin Resistance in Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus
Background & Aims: Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most common pathogens in nosocomial infections. Vancomycin is the most important therapeutic drug of choice for treatment of infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains. Therefore, vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA) or vancomycin-intermediate Staphylococcus aureus (VISA) strains are warning...
متن کاملVancomycin heteroresistance and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
Heteroresistance refers to the presence, within a larger population of fully antimicrobial-susceptible microorganisms, of subpopulations with lesser susceptibility. This phenomenon has been described in a wide range of microorganisms, but much recent attention has been directed toward its expression in Staphylococcus aureus. Although it has long been known that resistance to methicillin is char...

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and vancomycin-resistant enterococci.
OBJECTIVE We have sought ways to circumvent resistance, by combining nisin with other antibiotics known to target bacterial cell wall biosynthesis. METHODS Twenty strains each of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) were tested in vitro by standardized methods against nisin alone and combined with bacitracin, ramoplanin and chlorampheni...
